*Job Description: Assistant Teacher for 3/4 combo class*
*Position Overview:*
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team, specifically to work with our 3/4 combo class in our early childhood education program.
The ideal candidate will have a nurturing disposition, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering the growth and development of young children.
In addition to assisting with educational activities, the Assistant Teacher will be responsible for diaper changing, potty training, and maintaining a clean and hygienic classroom environment.
*Responsibilities:*
* *Assist Lead Teacher:* Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lessons that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of 3 and 4 year-old children.
* *Supervision:* Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care by providing constant supervision during classroom activities, playtime, and outdoor excursions.
* *Diaper Changing:* Perform diaper changing duties for children in accordance with established hygiene and safety protocols.
Maintain sensitivity and respect for the privacy and dignity of each child during diaper changing procedures.
* *Hygiene Maintenance:* Regularly clean and sanitize diaper changing stations, toys, play equipment, and other classroom materials to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Follow proper procedures for disinfecting surfaces and handling potentially hazardous materials.
* *Room Cleaning:* Conduct thorough cleaning of the classroom and common areas on a daily basis, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
Ensure that all cleaning supplies are properly stored and used in accordance with safety guidelines.
* *Communication:* Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other staff members regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
Maintain open lines of communication to foster positive relationships and support collaboration in the childcare community.
* *Documentation:* Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation related to children's attendance, milestones, and developmental progress.
Complete incident reports as needed and report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
* *Professional Development:* Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in early childhood education, child development, and best practices for classroom management.
*Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant coursework or degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
* Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting preferred.
* Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
* Ability to maintain a positive and nurturing learning environment while enforcing rules and boundaries.
* Flexibility, patience, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
*Physical Requirements:*
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel to interact with children and perform cleaning tasks.
* Ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time.
