About Us The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO).
Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta.
Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens.
The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville.
The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta.
The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow.
The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.
Job Summary This is an application developer position involving project and end user support of the Ellucian application suite.
The student information system enhancements are worked in a variety of solutions including ProC, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Java, and other web-technologies with the data stored in an Oracle Database.
The employee will follow standard Software Development Life Cycle methodology along with adherence to IT best practices and standards.
This position also provides support to the functional business analysts in resolving end-user issues as customer satisfaction is paramount.
The tasks for this position are varied in nature and very often time critical, so organization and time-management are highly valued.
Responsibilities Assists in managing database, student information systems, and business management operations.
Assists in defining requirements and steps necessary to achieve institutional goals.
Assists in identifying areas of in need of improvement or refinement; assists in the design and development of solutions.
Assists in managing projects as assigned, including application upgrades.
Works with users and stakeholders to define, analyze, recommend, and implement system improvements.
Provides technical support to end users on multiple application system modules.
Assists with integration of various application systems.
Assists in developing and delivering end user training.
Develop student information system enhancements using the desired technology solution while following industry standards.
Participates in code reviews with other developers during each release cycle for cross training.
Creates and updates end user documentation.
Participates in professional development activities; attend conferences and workshops.
Collaborates with other ITS departments to develop custom solutions, fixes and patches.
Assists in designing scalable solutions to support collaborative operations.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience Over one year of related experience required.
