JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for planning and directing activities concerned with improvement, development, application, and maintenance of engineering standards for industrial processes, materials, and products at Roper Pump Company.
These responsibilities require the ability to identify, apply, and communicate continuous improvement methodologies at all employee levels, to manage directed and non-directed projects to achieve improvement results, and will possess the knowledge and abilities as stipulated below.

Will have a fundamental understanding of engineering philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems and professional ethics.
A foundational knowledge of these topics in necessary regarding Quality, Manufacturing, and Design.
Will have a fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation to the current revision of ISO 9001.
Will have a basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up.
Will be able to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
Will be able to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling and measuring systems.
Will have basic knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, systems design, assessment tools, and reporting.
Will have a thorough understanding of problem-solving and improvement tools and techniques.
This includes knowledge of management and planning tools, quality tools, root cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to improvement.
Will be able to acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements.
Will be able to calibrate and manage the gage management system.
Will be able to perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies Dealing with Ambiguity Problem Solving Process Management Technical Learning SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY The Continuous Improvement Engineer will demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise inspection and testing personnel as required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position.
Days of work are Monday through Friday.
This position may require long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and possible out-of-country travel may be expected.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The Continuous Improvement Engineer position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Six Sigma Black belt is preferred.
Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will possess the knowledge and ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and specifications, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and other specifications and standards utilized in the organization.
